UnitedHealthcare to publish annual update to Gold Card program on September 1

August 14, 2025

What You Need to Know: UnitedHealthcare will release its annual update to the national Gold Card program on September 1, 2025. Physicians should check their status in provider portal promptly, as disputes must be filed by September 30, 2025.

UnitedHealthcare (UHC) will publish its annual updated list of practices that qualify for the national UHC Gold Card program on September 1, 2025.  Effective October 1, practices granted Gold Card status, will be exempt from the certain UHC prior authorization requirements, though they will still need to advance notification process.

Practices are encouraged to check their Gold Card status as soon as possible, via the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal, as disputes on participation status must be filed by September 30, 2025. UHC has published an interactive guide, located on the UHC National Gold Card Program to help practices look up their status and navigate the dispute process.

Practices are not required to apply for Gold Card status. UHC automatically evaluates and communicates each practice’s status annually, along with performance reporting based on the program’s eligibility criteria.
