Free CME: Next Virtual Grand Rounds to explore the evolving state of public health in California

October 07, 2025

Join us on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 12 p.m. for the next installment of the California Medical Association’s (CMA) Virtual Grand Rounds — The Evolving State of Public Health: Vaccines, Advisory Groups and Other Emerging Issues.

As California continues to navigate an ever-changing public health landscape, this session will provide updates on the latest developments in vaccines and immunization policy, the role of public health advisory groups, and other key emerging issues that impact patient care and physician practice. Participants will gain valuable insights into how evolving guidance and new infectious disease trends are shaping the future of medicine and public health across the state.

Over the past several months, there have been unprecedented changes in public health leadership at federal agencies and within advisory boards responsible for national health policy recommendations. This month’s Grand Rounds will feature a conversation with Erica Pan, M.D., MPH, Director and State Public Health Officer at the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), and Rita Nguyen, M.D., Assistant Health Officer and Population Health Director at CDPH. Together, they will discuss the impact of these federal shifts, how California is responding, and what physicians need to know about evolving vaccine recommendations and public health priorities.

This free, one-hour webinar is open to all interested parties. If you are unable to attend the live session, the webinar will be available for on-demand playback at cmadocs.org/grandrounds. Please note that CME is only available for those attending the live activity.
