What You Need to Know: CALPAC broke its own fundraising record for the sixth time in seven years, raising $300,320 at CMA’s 154th House of Delegates—an increase of 22% over last year. Several delegations achieved full participation, and the organization began its 2025–26 membership year with 11 Diamond Level donors.
On Sunday, October 19, 2025, the California Medical Association (CMA) Political Action Committee (CALPAC) once again set a new fundraising record collecting $300,320 as it launched its 2025-26 membership year at CMA’s 154th House of Delegates. This marks the sixth record-breaking year in the past seven, representing a 22% increase over 2024’s total. The total raised this year reflects a doubling of CALPAC’s fundraising at this event in less than a decade—demonstrating the success of its sustained outreach and engagement strategies.
Four delegations — the Organized Medical Staff Section and geographic Districts 1, 2, and 8 — achieved 100% participation from all delegates and alternates. District 2 and District 8 received CALPAC’s Victory Bell award for the highest total contributions and highest average contribution, respectively.
Funds donated to CALPAC directly support its political advocacy work and efforts to elect more physicians to public office, including Dr. Sion Roy M.D., who is currently running for the State Senate.
CALPAC also starts the year with a record 11 Diamond Level ($6,500) donors: Rene Bravo, M.D., Jack Chou, M.D., George Fouras, M.D., Brian Grady, M.D., John Maa, M.D., Ramin Manshadi, M.D., Tanya Spirtos, M.D., Shannon Udovic-Constant, M.D., Robert E. Wailes, M.D., and Timothy Watson, M.D., as well as the Balboa Nephrology Medical Group.
