UnitedHealthcare (UHC) recently announced that new member ID cards will be issued for some commercial plan members on or after April 1, 2024. The newly issued ID cards will include a new group number, member ID numbers, Rx group code and mailing address for medical claims.

The change will affect members in the following plans: Choice, Choice Plus, Core, Core Essential, Doctors Plan, Heritage Select, Heritage Select Advantage, Heritage Select Plus, Navigate, Navigate Balanced, Navigate Plus, Nexus ACO OA, Nexus ACO OAP, Nexus ACO R, Nexus ACO RP, Non-Diff PPO, Options PPO, Select and Select Plus.

To avoid claim processing issues, physicians are reminded to always verify patients' eligibility and benefits including asking for the member ID card at each visit, identifying any new or updated information from the ID card and updating your billing system accordingly.

UnitedHealthcare has created a New Member ID Card Quick Reference Guide to highlight the details of the ID card changes.  Physicians with questions or concerns can contact UHC via the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal or through the UHC Contact us page.
