February 08, 2021
Area(s) of Interest: Physician Workforce

The 2021 application cycle for the CalHealthCares loan repayment program closes this Friday. Interested individuals must apply by 11:59 p.m. on February 12, 2021, to be considered for an award.

The program—which aims to increase access to care for California’s 13 million Medi-Cal patients—awards loan repayment grants of up to $300,000 in loan repayments to encourage and incentivize physicians to provide care to Medi-Cal beneficiaries. The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has contracted with Physicians for a Healthy California (PHC) to administer this program.

Physician awardees receive loan repayments of up to $300,000 in exchange for a five-year service obligation.

PHC recently held two webinars regarding this year’s application cycle. Archives of these webinars can be found on the PHC website.
