CALPAC begins new fiscal year on October 1, asks physicians to renew their donation

Area(s) of Interest: Advocacy

CALPAC—the California Medical Association (CMA’s) political action committee—will soon enter its 2021 fiscal year on October 1; we are encouraging donors to renew their critical support early and have it count toward 2021. With important reporting deadlines and Election Day fast approaching, now is a crucial time for physicians to consider renewing their support when it can do the most good in helping elect pro-physician legislators.

A strong PAC means strong relations with legislators who share our vision for positive change in the health care space. CALPAC’s work interviewing candidates for office builds lasting relationships that bolster our grassroots network. In 2020, CALPAC success meant advocacy success, with more than a dozen harmful bills halted, grant funding for residency slots protected, and a $1.2 billion proposed cut to Medi-Cal taken off the table.

But with legislative threats continuing to mount, public health officers facing political and personal attacks across the state, and a threat to MICRA on the November 2022 ballot, now is the time to ensure CALPAC has more resources and might than ever before. Individuals are encouraged to donate to CALPAC by clicking here now.
