Earn 1.5 CME for participating in our free COVID-19 Virtual Grand Rounds

On Tuesday, July 14, 2020, the California Medical Association (CMA) and the California Health and Human Services Agency (CHHS) will host the first in our new series of virtual grand rounds for the state’s clinicians on the on the evolution of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and management of COVID-19 patients.

With COVID-19 likely to be part of the clinical landscape for the foreseeable future, CMA and CHHS, in partnership with the California Academy of Physician Assistants and Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of California, will be hosting monthly virtual grand rounds to make sure providers have access to the most current knowledge of COVID-19 clinical presentation and management.

The first virtual grand rounds – State of COVID-19 with California Public Health Leaders – will be Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at 12 p.m. The 90-minute grand rounds webinars are free and open to all interested clinicians. Clinicians likely to encounter COVID-19 in their practice settings (e.g., front line physicians, nurse practitioners or physician assistants) are encouraged to join the monthly case-based presentations, which will include expert panel discussions and audience participation.

Participants can receive 1.5 hours* of continuing medical education.

State public health leaders will discuss past and current state efforts to prepare for COVID-19 surges, data collection methods for surveillance and planning, as well as related impacts to California communities. Presenters include:

  • Erica Pan, M.D., MPH, California State Epidemiologist and Deputy Director of the Department of Public Health Center for Infectious Diseases
  • Sonia Angell, M.D., MPH, State Public Health Officer and Director of the California Department of Public Health
  • Alice Chen, M.D., MPH, Deputy Secretary for Policy and Planning and Director of Clinical Affairs for the California Department of Health and Human Services.
