The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is in the process of creating a new electronic application and enrollment system, which will replace the current paper-based process. DHCS reports that the new process, called the Provider Application and Verification Enrollment system (PAVE), will allow providers and their staff to electronically enter their information and electronic signatures. The goal is to reduce delays, speed decisions and provide real-time application status updates.

DHCS is holding an in-person focus group for solo physicians to demonstrate where it is with the new system and gather feedback on what more can be done to build a better system. Interested physicians have the choice of attending the focus group on either May 4 or May 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at DHCS’s offices at 1501 Capitol Ave., Sacramento.

Physicians who are interested should send their name and contact information to DHCSPEDPAVE@dhcs.ca.gov and indicate which date (May 4 or May 11) they wish to attend. DHCS encourages providers to bring their staff members involved in preparing applications to the session.
