Anthem rescinds Nivano termination for Medi-Cal managed care

February 15, 2018

As previously reported, Anthem Blue Cross had initiated the termination of its relationship with delegated entity, Nivano Physicians Medical Group, for its HMO and Medi-Cal managed care products. However, according to filings with the California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC), Anthem rescinded the termination for its approximately 42,000 Medi-Cal managed care covered lives on January 23, 2018. The termination for its HMO business remains in effect.

Nivano, also known as Northern California Physicians Medical Group, with enrollees in Placer, Nevada, Sacramento, Yuba and Colusa counties, remains on a corrective action plan with the DMHC for failure to meet financial solvency standards.

Other payors—including Blue Shield of California and United Healthcare—terminated their relationships with Nivano last August.
