Outstanding CME Professional Award

- Kavitha Jayachandran, M.D. – Kaiser Permanente, Santa Clara
With over 25 years of unwavering dedication to CME, Dr. Jayachandran has transformed the CME landscape through her visionary leadership, commitment to collaboration and passion for professional development. From founding the Institute of Medical Educators to advancing faculty growth and integrating innovative teaching practices, her impact has been both profound and far-reaching.
Innovation in CME Award – Individual Activity
- Point-of-Care Ultrasound: Advanced Simulation Training for Clinical Excellence – Kaiser Permanente, Santa Clara
This groundbreaking activity exemplified innovation by reimagining clinical education. It blended immersive online modules with hands-on simulation, empowering providers to make accurate, timely decisions in musculoskeletal care. Not only did it elevate diagnostic skills and reduce unnecessary imaging, but it also fostered a culture of continuous improvement and cross-specialty learning.
Innovation in CLC & IB – Individual Activity
- Strategies to Improve Health Outcomes for Pacific Islanders – Kaiser Permanente, Redwood City
Led by Julia Carranza, this exceptional program demonstrated innovation in cultural and linguistic competencies. It powerfully integrated cultural and linguistic competency with implicit bias training to advance equity in care. Through community-rooted practices—such as culturally resonant design, staff development and leadership pathways—it helped elevate awareness, build trust, and strengthen patient outcomes for historically underserved populations.
Innovation in CLC & IB – CME Program
- Behavioral Health Services – San Francisco Department of Public Health
Under the leadership of Michael Barack, this program exemplifies a transformative commitment to equity in behavioral health education. From launching an intensive Anti-Racist Fellowship for organizational leaders, to reimagining clinical training through the ARCH series, to embedding culturally congruent care into practice—their work demonstrates courageous leadership and tireless dedication.
