We encourage you to begin entering continuing medical education (CME) data into the Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS) now to prepare for annual year-end reporting. Please enter all activities that began in 2025 and close any that have ended. To make this process less overwhelming, we recommend entering activities throughout the year as they occur. Begin by entering basic information before an activity takes place and then complete the entry afterward.
Once all required fields are filled out and total learner counts are added for activities that ended in 2025, you’ll need to manually change the status of those activities to “Closed.” Don’t worry—if you accidentally close an activity, you can reopen it within three months. After that, simply contact the California Medical Association (CMA) for help and we’ll reopen it for you.
Starting your 2025 activity audit now can help relieve the pressure of the upcoming deadline.
This is also a great opportunity to begin entering physician learner data. The Medical Board of California is one of the top five users of the CME Passport system to verify physician credit hours. When organizations report learner credit hours into PARS, physicians benefit from a streamlined license renewal process. Instead of submitting additional paperwork, the medical board can directly access CME Passport to verify completed CME requirements.
To support smooth renewals for your physician learners, be sure to report all CME credit hours into PARS. CMA has created helpful resources to guide you:
In January 2026, the Annual Agreement and Program Summary pages will become available. The deadline to complete all of your year-end reporting tasks is March 13, 2026.
As always, CMA CME staff are available to help answer any questions you may have. Contact us at cme@cmadocs.org.
