Tell your Senators to sign the "cancel the cut" letter

February 20, 2024

Due to the continued gridlock in Congress, a new round of Medicare physician payment cuts was allowed to go into effect on January 1, 2024. This 3.37% reduction comes on the heels of three years of consecutive cuts to Medicare services.

Late last week, Senators John Boozman (R-AR) and Peter Welch (D-VT) released a bipartisan, sign-on letter to Senate leadership asking them to urgently address the 3.37% cut.

Contact your Senators TODAY and ask them to sign on to this “Dear Colleague” letter to leadership. The deadline to sign is Thursday, February 22!

If this latest cut is left in place, physician Medicare payments will have been reduced by almost 10% in four years. This is simply unsustainable for our nation’s physicians and the patients they serve.

The effects of these cuts have had a heavy impact on rural and underserved areas, which continue to face significant health care access challenges. Medicare physicians do not receive inflationary updates in the Medicare program, which is partially why eliminating these cuts is so crucial.

Everyone agrees the Medicare physician payment system is broken and it’s time for Congress to do something about it!

Please contact your Senators today, and ask that they stand with America’s physicians and their patients by signing the Boozman/Welch letter.
