Donaldo Hernandez, M.D., President of the California Medical Association (CMA), issued the following statement commemorating Juneteenth:

"As we come together and commemorate Juneteenth to honor the end of slavery, we reflect that America’s struggle for equality, liberty and freedom for all continues to this day. Racism continues to negatively impact and exacerbate health inequities and we must dedicate our efforts to structural-level changes that advance equity in medicine and health care."
