Continuing Medical Education (CME)
By or before March 18, 2022, your organization is required to provide the California Medical Association (CMA) and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) with 2021 continuing medical education (CME) activities data through the ACCME’s Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS). In addition to year-end reporting requirements, please review your organization’s contacts and make updates to individual roles as needed.
Consistent with prior years, by March 18, 2022, all providers must:
- Report information descriptive of each CME activity made available in 2021.
- Report financial information that describes the 2021 income for their overall CME program by completing the “Program Summary” in PARS.
- Attest to the completeness of the data they have entered for 2021 by clicking the “Accept Terms” button that will appear within the agreement in PARS beginning in January 2022.
- Attest that they will follow ACCME and their recognized accreditor’s policies and procedures.
The program summary and agreement can be found at the top left of your PARS dashboard. Completion of these three steps fulfills year-end reporting requirements.
Start early! We encourage you to begin entering data in the new PARS as soon as possible and to enter activities as they are implemented. You can enter basic information about an activity before it has taken place and complete the entry after the activity has occurred.
