The California Medical Association (CMA) is proud to announce CMA volunteers who have received national recognition or appointment from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)! These individuals have been integral to CMA’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) program and continued alignment with national guidelines and requirements.

Each year, ACCME honors ACCME volunteers and pays special tribute to those who have demonstrated exemplary and long-term service to the ACCME. Jeffrey Mallin, M.D., received the 2021 Robert Raszkowski, M.D., PhD ACCME Hero Award. Dr. Mallin has held many leadership positions at ACCME and has also been a long-term volunteer surveyor and educator for CMA CME.

Additionally, CMA CME Steering Committee on CME (CCME) member Haritha Rachamallu, M.D., was elected to the ACCME Committee for Review and Recognition (CRR). The CRR synthesizes data to formulate recommendations to the ACCME Board of Directors regarding the recognition status of state medical societies that wish to accredit intrastate providers of CME.

Furthermore, continuing her appointment on the ACCME Accreditation Review Committee (ARC), which began in 2021, is our CCME Chair, Kristen Jensen, M.D. ARC members are responsible for reviewing the information about CME providers gathered during the accreditation process and making recommendations about accreditation decisions to the Decision Committee of the ACCME Board of Directors. Similarly, to CMA CME Surveyors, ARC members are CME professionals who have in-depth knowledge of CME, the ACCME and accreditation requirements.
