California Medical Association (CMA) President Robert E. Wailes, M.D., issued the following statement in response to the stalking and harassment of Kristina Lawson, president of the Medical Board of California:

“The stalking and harassment of California medical board President Kristina Lawson and her family is just the latest example of escalating violence and harassment from anti-vaccine extremists. Incidents like this one are increasing in number and severity and present a growing threat to physicians, public health officials and other public servants throughout our state. This behavior is not acceptable, and we cannot allow it to be normalized. We must do more to address the dangerous escalation and growing threat from those who peddle misinformation and put our public health at risk.”
