On Saturday, October 23, 2021, the California Medical Association (CMA) Political Action Committee (CALPAC) for the second year in a row shattered all previous fundraising records in its history, raising $211,580 as it launched its 2021-22 membership year at CMA’s 150th House of Delegates.
The $211,580 raised this year represents a 7% increase over its 2020 HOD fundraising total. Numerous delegations showed strong participation in the fundraising drive, with District I and the Organized Medical Staff Section delegations winning CALPAC’s Victory Bell Contest, raising the highest donation total of donations and highest average number of donations, respectively.
The money donated to CALPAC goes directly to support its political advocacy efforts, helping the PAC turn policy decisions into advocacy success, work to elect more physicians to office and prepare for another dangerous initiative threat to MICRA.
Before House of Delegates began on Saturday, CALPAC board members had been engaged in a successful program, fundraising from over 150 of their peers. CALPAC also hit an historic total of four Diamond Level donors to begin its membership year, from Peter N. Bretan, M.D., Ramin Manshadi, M.D., Robert E. Wailes, M.D., and Roger Wu, M.D.
