Physicians who participated in a Medicare Advanced Alternative Payment Model (APM) during 2018 who believe they qualified for the 5% incentive payment but have not received it must provide their missing billing information to CMS no later than Nov. 10, 2020.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently distributed APM incentive payments to qualified participants from 2018. However, the agency said there are many physicians it has been unable to locate in order to issue the incentive payments. CMS has published a list of physicians it has been unable to locate.

The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act provides annual incentive payments equal to 5% of the physician's Medicare claims for physicians who participate in Advanced APMs. The payments are made two years after the physician participates in the APM, so physicians who qualified as APM participants in 2018 are due to receive their 5% incentive payments this year.
