Sacramento pain specialist Lee T. Snook, Mr., M.D., has been awarded the California Medical Association (CMA) Gary S. Nye Award for Physician Health and Well-Being. The award honors a CMA member who has made significant contributions toward improving physician health and wellness. The award was announced at the CMA Foundation’s 21st annual President’s Reception and Awards Gala, during the CMA House of Delegates last weekend in Anaheim.

Dr. Snook, who currently serves as Speaker of the CMA House of Delegates, has been an outspoken advocate for physician wellness for more than 25 years. He has served on numerous CMA committees relating to physician wellness, as well as on the Board of Directors of the California Public Protection and Physician Health (CPPPH) organization since its inception in 2009. Using his unique insight, Dr. Snook has spent the past 25 years working to develop policies and programs that have achieved positive results for the health and wellness of all physicians and for the practice of medicine. 

He was an advocate for approaches to preventing physician burnout long before it became a popular thing to talk about.

This award was established in honor of Gary Nye, M.D., a leader in bringing attention and developing solutions for physician impairment and rehabilitation.
