SACRAMENTO, CA – The California Medical Association (CMA) applauds Governor Gavin Newsom’s appointment of Bradley P. Gilbert, M.D., as director of the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS).

“We are pleased to see the appointment of someone so dedicated to public health and Medi-Cal as Dr. Gilbert to this prestigious position,” said CMA President Peter Bretan, M.D. “Because of his experience leading a local Medi-Cal plan, as a county public health director and as a practicing physician, Dr. Gilbert is uniquely qualified for this role and we are excited to see the ways in which he can help expand access to care for the millions of Californians across the state who receive their care through Medi-Cal.”
