CMA denounces federal government’s planned weekend immigration raids

June 21, 2019
Area(s) of Interest: Public Health

California Medical Association President David H. Aizuss issued the following statement in response to the federal government’s planned immigration raids in California and across the country:

The federal government’s plan to arrest families this weekend, including those seeking asylum, will only sow fear and create anxiety among residents in California and across the nation. These planned raids create an environment that undermines public health, making it less likely that those who need medical care will seek out the treatment they need. The physicians of the California Medical Association are committed to providing care to those who need it, regardless of immigration status, and strongly support state efforts to extend access to care for all California residents.
