In his proposed budget for the 2019-2020 fiscal year, Governor Newsom announced plans for a value-based payment (VBP) program that would provide incentive payments to Medi-Cal managed care providers for meeting specific measures aimed at improving care for certain high-cost or high-need populations. The program is funded with $180 million in Proposition 56 funds, estimated at $360 million in total funds annually with the federal match.

DHCS is hosting a webinar on the proposed VBP incentives on Thursday, June 13, 2019, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.. This webinar is open to all interested parties.

In this webinar, DHCS will discuss the risk-based incentive payments that will be available to physicians who meet specific metrics in areas such as behavioral health integration, chronic disease management, prenatal/post-partum care and early childhood prevention. DHCS will explain how they selected the proposed measures, the measure payment method and purpose of the measures. The webinar will also cover the distribution timeline for these funds and how physicians can report on the incentive measures.
