The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has extended the deadline to participate in ICD-10 end-to-end testing taking place July 20-24. Physicians who want to volunteer should submit their information May 11-22. The July testing will give a group of 850 volunteers the opportunity to find out if they are prepared to submit claims using ICD-10 codes to CMS.

CMS intends to select volunteers representing a broad cross-section of provider, claim and submitter types, including claims clearinghouses that submit claims for large numbers of providers. Testers who participated in the January and April end-to-end testing weeks are able to test again in July without re-applying.

Volunteers who participate in the testing must be able to submit claims with a future date and provide valid National Provider Identifiers, Provider Transaction Access Numbers and beneficiary Health Insurance Claim Numbers that will be used for test claims.
