CMA publishes guide for patients impacted by wildfires

November 17, 2018
Area(s) of Interest: Patient Education

Currently, three California counties— Butte, Los Angeles and Ventura—are under a state of emergency due to the effects of the Camp, Hill and Woolsey wildfires, which have destroyed homes and businesses, threatened critical infrastructure and caused the evacuation of residents.

Health plans and insurers are taking action to ensure patients in the affected areas have continued access to care. The California Medical Association (CMA) has published a guide to help patients navigate these services. This guide includes phone numbers to call if patients are experiencing difficulty refilling prescriptions, replacing medical supplies or obtaining access to care, as well as links with more information about other services each plan and insurer is offering.
