Anthem Blue Cross correcting ultrasound recoupment issue

The California Medical Association has learned that Anthem Blue Cross is correcting a system error that has resulted in the erroneous recoupment of payment for prenatal ultrasound services dating back to 2017 dates of service. Anthem has advised that the problem has been identified and that it is implementing corrective action.

For providers affected by the error, Anthem has generated an internal report identifying all affected claims. Claims for services that have already been recovered or offset against current claim receipts will automatically be reprocessed to reverse the repayment. Claims scheduled for recovery, but not yet offset or recovered, will be placed on hold.
