The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) recently announced the details of its annual “checkwrite” delay. DHCS will delay certain payments for two weeks in June so that those claims are paid out of the 2024-2025 fiscal year budget. This checkwrite delay will impact providers who render services through Medi-Cal funded fee-for-service programs.

The following Medi-Cal fee-for-service payments with warrant dates of June 20, 2024, and June 27, 2024, will be held until July 5, 2024. 

June 20 and June 27 checkwrite:

• Medi-Cal
  • Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP)
  • Family Planning, Access, Care and Treatment (Family PACT)
• Abortion

June 27 checkwrite:

• State-Only California Children’s Services
• State-Only Genetically Handicapped Persons Program

Every Woman Counts (EWC) program payments will be excluded from the hold.
