As previously reported, the U.S. Department of Defense awarded the TRICARE West Region contract to TriWest Healthcare Alliance (TriWest). Effective January 1, 2025, TriWest will provide administrative support services to TRICARE beneficiaries throughout the 25-state western region, which includes California.

In preparation for the transition, TriWest has been accepting interest forms from providers who wish to join the TriWest network. TriWest has started reaching out to physicians currently contracted with the TriWest network or who have already submitted the contract request form with more information regarding TRICARE participation.

According to TriWest, subsequent outreach efforts will be targeted at expanding the provider network in areas of geographic and specialty need.  The complete TRICARE contracting outreach process is expected to take several months to complete.
