Medical board will no longer accept paper applications after June 1

April 17, 2023

Effective June 1, 2023, the Medical Board of California will no longer accept or process paper-based applications for a Physician’s and Surgeon’s (P&S) License. The paper application will be removed from the medical board’s website on May 19, 2023.

Except under limited circumstances, paper applications submitted on or after June 1, 2023, will not be processed and the medical board will notify the applicant they must apply through the BreEZe online system (instructions can be found here).

The medical board first began transitioning to a paperless application process on February 1, 2023, when it stopped accepting paper applications for the Postgraduate Training License and the transition from a Postgraduate Training License to a Physician’s and Surgeon’s License

According to the medical board, a paperless application process helps both applicants and the board by increasing the efficiency of the review process, enhancing security, and reducing costs and impact to the environment.
