Crashing the Clinical Encounter: CMA and the Nocturnists to host virtual storytelling workshop for physicians

November 01, 2022

The California Medical Association (CMA) is a proud sponsor of the Nocturnists medical storytelling podcast and live show. The Nocturnists will be hosting a virtual storytelling workshop, designed exclusively for CMA physicians, to explore political, legal and corporate intrusion in the exam room, and its impact on the clinician-patient relationship. The workshop—Crashing the Clinical Encounter—will take place virtually on December 6, 2022, at 5 p.m.

“We help clinicians develop their stories, enabling them to speak publicly about the fears, doubts, and joys that shape their personal and professional lives,” says Emily Silverman, M.D., the creator and host of the Nocturnists. Dr. Silverman is an internal medicine physician and assistant volunteer professor of medicine at UCSF.

Register today for the Nocturnists workshop and learn more about how we can amplify the tapestry of physician voices through oral storytelling.

About the Nocturnists

The Nocturnists collect and share stories about health care workers' experiences to compel, provoke and demystify the practice of medicine. The Nocturnists has also produced two special audio documentary storytelling series: Stories from a Pandemic, which has been acquired as a historical record by the U.S. Library of Congress, and Black Voices in Healthcare, which was honored by the Webby Awards. We just released our third series, Shame in Medicine: The Lost Forest, in partnership with the Shame and Medicine project at the University of Exeter, which is slated for release in the fall of 2022.
