Compliance Corner: Standards for Integrity and Independence

August 25, 2022
Area(s) of Interest: Continuing Medical Education (CME)

As a reminder, the new Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education became effective January 1, 2022.

ACCME’s standards resources web page includes full information on the changes, a toolkit of helpful templates and a planning guide to ensure you are prepared.

Did you know that the definition of an Ineligible Company has changed from that of a commercial interest? Be sure to use the ACCME Toolkit templates to ensure you are including the correct definition, as well as other changes, when collecting financial information from all planners, faculty and others in control of content.

As your accreditor, the California Medical Association is here to help. Reach out with questions to cme@cmadocs.org.
