New Standards for Integrity and Independence. The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) announced new Standards for Integrity and Independence in accredited continuing education to streamline, clarify and modernize existing standards. All providers are expected to comply with the new standards by January 1, 2022.

Accreditation Statement. The California Medical Association (CMA) is your recognized accreditor! Please remove any reference to the Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ) and update your statement accordingly:

  • For directly provided activities: “The (name of accredited provider) is accredited by the California Medical Association (CMA) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.”
  • For jointly provided activities: “This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of California Medical Association (CMA) through the joint providership of (name of accredited provider) and (name of nonaccredited provider). The (name of accredited provider) is accredited by CMA to provide continuing medical education for physicians.”
