ALL physicians eligible for 4th and final Provider Relief Fund distribution; Apply by Oct. 26

February 22, 2021
Area(s) of Interest: Continuing Medical Education (CME)

The California Medical Association (CMA) continuing medical education (CME) program annual year-end reporting is due by March 19, 2021. Under these requirements, CME provider organizations are required to provide CMA and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) with data about their 2020 CME activities and overall CME program in the ACCME’s Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS). In addition to year-end reporting requirements, CME providers should review their organization’s contacts and make updates to individual roles, as needed.

A few frequently asked questions about year-end reporting can be found below:

What data do I have to report by March 19, 2021?

There are three components to your 2020 reporting requirements:

  1. Report information descriptive of each CME activity your organization provided in 2020.
  2. Report the 2020 income for your overall program of CME on the Program Summary page in PARS.
  3. Once you have completed steps one and two above, you must complete the ACCME's annual attestation, which is found at the bottom of the Program Summary page.

Completion of these three steps will fulfill your year-end reporting requirements. For additional information about year-end reporting requirements, visit Fulfilling Year End Reporting Requirements Using PARS.

How do I log into PARS?

You can access PARS via the login button on ACCME’s home page or by visiting https://parsa.accme.org/. Google Chrome is the preferred browser for PARS. Once you have logged into PARS, click on the Program and Activity Data button to begin entering data. Note that anyone who is listed as a contact for your organization can enter data for your organization.

How can I get help with PARS?

ACCME has created educational tools, including FAQs, to assist you in your use of PARS.

If you have additional or specific questions about PARS or ACCME’s reporting requirements, please feel free to email the CMA CME team at cme@cmadocs.org.
