Area(s) of Interest: Continuing Medical Education (CME)

Starting in 2021, the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) will direct bill the California Medical Association’s (CMA) accredited continuing medical education providers for the annual State Medical Societies (SMS) fee (previously known as the “pass through fee”). ACCME will send an invoice to each accredited provider in mid-October, with payment due February 1, 2021.

The fee is based on Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS) data and calculated on the highest of average activities per year or average learner interactions per year.

Note that this is a separate fee from CMA’s Annual Accreditation Fee (due October 31, 2020). If you need the custom PayPal link resent, please email cme@cmadocs.org.

CMA will continue to work with ACCME to ensure accredited providers comply with fee requirements.
