On January 1, 2018, Health Net Federal Services (HNFS) will begin providing managed care services to 2.9 million TRICARE beneficiaries in the 21 western states, including California. HNFS will be taking over the contract previously held by UnitedHealthcare Military and Veterans’ Services (UMVS).
In preparation for the transition, Health Net began sending recruitment notices to physicians in April 2017, soliciting interest in participation in the new HNFS West Region network. While Health Net had anticipated completion of all provider contracting by July, HNFS indicates on its website that it is still accepting applications for participation in its TRICARE network. Physicians who are interested in participating in the HNFS TRICARE network but have not received a contract can download a copy of the contact on the HNFS website at T2017 PPN Agreement and submit a completed copy to HNFS by fax at (844) 836-5818, or mail to:

Physicians with questions regarding the TRICARE transition may contact HNFS at HNFSProvRel@healthnet.com.
Health Net has put together an FAQ document, while the California Medical Association (CMA) is working with the payor to create a transition guide for physicians.
