Area(s) of Interest: Public Health Interventional Cardiology

This American Heart Month, the California Medical Association is joining the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute in a national pledge to #MoveWithHeart. We invite you to submit a pledge by recording a video of yourself and upload it to Twitter or Instagram using #MoveWithHeart or go to www.MoveWithHeartPledge.com.

Participate in just three simple steps:

  • Record a short video of yourself saying “I pledge to move more for my heart health.”

  • Share it on Twitter or Instagram using #MoveWithHeart.

  • Challenge friends and family to #MoveWithHeart.

Why pledge?

  • Research shows that physical activity can reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, even for those at high genetic risk.

  • Only about 22 percent of adults meet federal physical activity guidelines.

  • Adults should spend at least 2 ½ hours each week doing physical activity that gets their heart pumping and leaves them a little breathless.

  • Being sedentary or inactive makes you nearly twice as likely to develop heart disease than if you’re active.
