Physicians for a Healthy California (PHC) has partnered with the Alzheimer's Association and the UCSF Dementia Care Aware project on a free webinar—Inequities in Dementia Detection and Cognitive Health Assessments: Primary Care Dementia Screening in Diverse Older Adult Populations. The one-hour webinar will be December 15, 2022, at 12 p.m.

Those who live to be 65 or older have a one in six chance of developing Alzheimer’s and a one in five chance of developing any type of dementia. The number of Californians aged 65 and older living with Alzheimer’s disease is expected to more than double by 2040. A critical step in meeting the needs of this growing population is early recognition of cognitive decline.

In this webinar, participants will learn about the impact of Alzheimer’s in diverse communities disproportionately affected by the disease and significantly impacted by social determinants of health; how to do screening for dementia in diverse patient populations; and how to help patients optimize physical and cognitive health and support them and their families with resources.
