In another last-minute effort to stave off physician payment cuts, Congress recently passed—and President Biden signed—a law that stopped all but .75% of the nearly 10% cut to Medicare physician payments that would have otherwise occurred in 2022. California's Medicare contractor, Noridian, has now posted the updated 2022 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule on its website to reflect these changes.
The American Medical Association has also published an updated specialty impact analysis, which factors in the Protecting Medicare and American Farmers from Sequester Cuts Act.
In addition, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has released the new 2022 physician fee schedule conversion factor of $34.6062 and Anesthesia conversion factor of $21.5623.
The California Medical Association (CMA) will be hosting a free one-hour webinar on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 12:15 pm to provide an overview of current CMS policy as outlined in the 2022 Physician Fee Schedule. CMS Regional Chief Medical Officer, Ashby Wolfe, M.D. will provide key updates related to telemedicine, evaluation and management services, and the agency COVID-19 response.
If you are unable to attend the live webinar, it will be available for on-demand viewing at cmadocs.org/webinars.
