Medi-Cal provider website down due to extreme weather in Texas

February 16, 2021

UPDATE: Medi-Cal website functionality has now been restored. DHCS is continuing to monitor the site and services to ensure stabilization. Providers, submitters and other users can access site resources and resume transaction submission through all authorized channels.

Medi-Cal’s State Level Registry website is currently out of service because of the extreme weather affecting its primary data center in Dallas, Texas. This means that the Medi-Cal website and self-serve applications that support eligibility, treatment authorization and claim submission are all currently unavailable due to a weather induced power outage.

The Medi-Cal website became unavailable at approximately 12:15 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2021, and is still pending full restoration. There is currently no estimated time of completion.

The California Department of Health Care Services is reminding physicians and pharmacy providers to honor emergency-fill and dispensing protocols during this time, as outlined by Welfare & Institutions Code (W&I) 14133.37. To the extent permitted by federal law, provide for the dispensing of at least a 72-hour supply of a covered drug in an emergency situation.

Medi-Cal is also experiencing an intermittent telecommunications issue that is impacting caller access to telephone support and/or services. Call traffic is being rerouted to address this issue. In the interim, some calls may not be completed as dialed or may be disconnected.
