The Board of Trustees adopted Resolution 602-18 as amended.
Resolved #1: That CMA work in cooperation with the Medical Board of California (MBC) and the Department of Consumer Affairs to change MBC structure and processes so that they better emulate the best practice standards of High Reliability Organizations (HROs) and more fully embrace the concepts of “Just Culture” in dealing with the errors and flawed outcomes; and be it further
Resolved #2: That CMA request that the Medical Board of California (MBC) contract with the California Research Bureau (CRB) to regularly conduct date analysis reviews of the MBC’s physician disciplinary data to determine if certain groups of physicians, such as those in certain specialties or geographic areas, are disciplined more often or severely than other groups of physicians and to determine the impact of disciplinary decisions on access to care in those communities; and be it further
