The Employment Development Department (EDD) recently implemented a new electronic claim filing system for State Disability Insurance (SDI) called SDI Online. The new system allows claimants, physicians and employers to electronically submit Disability Insurance (DI) and Paid Family Leave (PFL) claims.

CMA will be hosting a live webinar on March 13, free to all interested parties, that will walk physicians and their staff through the process of creating an SDI Online account and completing the new online doctor’s certificate. Also discussed will be how how to set up authorized representatives from your staff to assist in completing the doctor’s certificates.

To register for the webinar, visit CMA Events.

Physicians should also be aware that filing a paper claim is still an option, but effective March 1, 2013, only the new OCR forms will be accepted (DE 2501, Rev. 78[4-12]).

For more information about SDI Online, or to order SDI OCR claim forms, visit www.edd.ca.gov/disability or call (855) 342-3645, which is a dedicated line for medical providers and employers.
