CMA and your local county medical society host a variety of events throughout the year that bring together physicians for collaboration, professional development, networking and policymaking. 


Events


CMA House of Delegates

CMA’s House of Delegates (HOD) convenes annually to debate on the most important issues affecting members, the association and the practice of medicine. The CMA HOD consists of more than 500 delegates elected by members of component medical societies, specialty societies, and CMA sections and forums, representing virtually every mode of practice and region of the state.

Dates: Held annually in October, and rotates between Sacramento and Los Angeles.


CMA Presidental Gala

Each year, CMA hosts the Presidental Gala to recognize and celebrate the incoming CMA President.
The prestigious black tie event brings together 500 guests for an evening filled with elegant dining, engaging conversation, entertainment, live music and dancing.

Dates: Held annually in October, during the CMA House of Delegates.


CMA Legislative Advocacy Conference

CMA's annual Legislative Advocacy Conference brings bring more than 500 physicians and medical students to Sacramento so they can meet with their legislative leaders as champions for patients and the practice of medicine. Legislator meetings are scheduled by your county medical society, and pre-conference advocacy training is provided to attendees.

Health Equity Leadership Summit

The Health Equity Leadership Summit, hosted by Physicians for a Healthy California (PHC), provides an opportunity for physicians, executives, advocates and allies to find community, engage in hands-on trainings and workshops, and hold in-depth conversations about how they are addressing the issue of health equity in California through their care of underserved communities throughout the state.

Medical Group Advocacy Symposium

CMA's Medical Group Advocacy Symposium is an exclusive, invitation-only event where California’s top leading health care industry experts come together to discuss the future of health care.

CMA Health IT Conference

The CMA Health IT Conference brings together thought leaders from across California and the nation to explore the intersection of technology and payment reform. Attendees include physicians, medical groups and IPAs, health plans, health information organizations (HIOs) and others who will take the learnings from this conference to change how care is delivered in this state.

Sutter Health Equity Symposium

CMA is a co-sponsor of Sutter's Unconscious Bias in Healthcare Symposium. The insights and strategies explored during this one-day event will inform evidence-based recommendations and a framework to guide the development and implementation of effective, measurable unconscious bias mitigation strategies.

Virtual Grand Rounds

CMA, in partnership with the California Department of Public Health, hosts a monthly virtual grand rounds series that focuses on emerging public health issues. Originally focused on COVID-19 and related topics, our Virtual Grand Rounds will now cover a variety of public health topics, including COVID-19 and other emerging issues impacting the health of California's communities.

Continuing Medical Education

CMA and its county medical societies offer year-round opportunities to earn free continuing medical education (CME) to help achieve your professional goals. Click here to view current CME opportunities.


CMA Webinars

CMA’s webinar series gives physicians the opportunity to watch online presentations on important topics of interest and interact with experts in various fields from the comfort of their homes or offices. The webinars are free to CMA members and their staff, and many offer CME. CMA also has 100+ archived on-demand webinars available at cmadocs.org/webinars.
