TITLE: Director of Strategic Initiatives

DIVISION: Center for Strategic Initiatives

REPORTS TO: Chief Strategy Officer 

OFFICE LOCATION: Sacramento

EXEMPTION STATUS: Exempt            

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director is responsible for organizing intra-corporate coordination of strategic initiatives developed to implement CMA’s strategic plan and balanced scorecard. The program director is responsible for organizing, in coordination with the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), executive level strategic planning sessions. The program director will implement components of the strategic plan, as assigned. Additionally, the director will work with the CSO to execute special projects. The director oversees development of presentations for the Executive Committee members.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide project management for bringing together cross-department teams to develop and move forward initiatives that implement CMA’s strategic plan and the balanced scorecard, including coordination of meeting planning calendars, identifying meeting locations, and execution of meetings

  • Regular review of relevant market publications, including CMA Newswire and California Healthline with the ability to be conversant in the major issues for California physicians

  • Support the CSO in organizing executive level strategic planning session

  • Explain the balanced scorecard strategic planning tool

  • Write reports and communications pieces to educate CMA stakeholders on the mechanics of the strategic plan implementation and the progress in meeting target goals

  • Coordinate creation of talking points and PowerPoint slide decks for Executive Committee members.

  • Manage meeting coordination responsibilities within budget

  • Implement, as assigned, initiatives to implement the strategic plan

  • Execute special projects, like coordinating a series of advisory group calls, organizing a webinar, or compiling and synthesizing information on an issue, as assigned

  • Other duties as assigned

Frequent contact with CMA staff, physicians, and component medical society staff

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required

  • Experience with project management required

  • Strong analytical ability and organizational skills required

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required

  • Excellent customer service skills required

  • Background in healthcare preferred


SUPERVISION:

Must be able to lead and motivate others to function as a team without having direct supervisorial control

EQUIPMENT OPERATION:

Computer, coordination of digital or telephonic meeting platforms

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Normal office environment requirements and limited travel for out-of-town meetings, like House of Delegates
