Continuing Medical Education (CME)
By Friday, March 13, 2026, your organization is required to provide the California Medical Association (CMA) and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) with 2025 CME activities data through ACCME’s Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS).
We encourage you to start early and enter data into PARS now. Enter all activities that started in 2025 and close all activities that also ended in 2025. We also recommend entering activities throughout the year as they are implemented, by entering basic information about an activity before it has taken place and then completing the entry after the activity has occurred. Once you have completed all required fields and added your total learner counts for all activities that ended in 2025, you will need to actively change the status of those activities to “closed.”
Additionally, deadlines for Maintenance of Certification/Continuous Certification (MOC/CC) data for your physician learners are quickly approaching. All certifying boards have year-end reporting requirements for their physicians. To best support your physician learners, please enter their CME for MOC completion data for 2025 in PARS by the deadlines (Dec. 1 for American Board of Pediatrics and Dec. 31 for other boards collaborating with ACCME). We encourage you to report learner data into PARS on an ongoing basis as physicians complete activities, preferably within 30 days of learners completing the activity and evaluation.
In January 2026, ACCME will open its annual agreement and program summary pages. Note that while ACCME requires year-end reporting to be completed by March 31, 2026, CMA’s due date is March 13, 2026, to allow time for our audit.
As always, CMA CME staff are available to help answer any questions you may have. Contact us at cme@cmadocs.org.
